Laceys Springs, AL (March 23, 2024) – A fatal two-vehicle collision was reported in the area of Laceys Springs on Wednesday, March 20. The deadly crash occurred on US-231 near Old Silo Road at around noon. Local reports later revealed that a Mercury Grand Marquis was struck by a Porsche Cayenne.
The Mercury left the road where it crashed into a ditch. The driver, 90-year-old Robert R. Barnes Jr. of Huntsville, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He was later pronounced dead by attending medical personnel. The driver of the Porsche was also injured and hospitalized by ambulance. No further information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
