Greene Co, AL (July 9, 2025) – One man died and another was injured following a fiery two-car collision early Sunday morning, July 6, along I-59 in Greene County.
Authorities say 34-year-old Lorenzo Cherry Jr. of Tuscaloosa was driving a 2020 Honda Accord when he struck the back of a pickup truck. The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. near mile marker 40, approximately one mile north of Eutaw.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash caused both vehicles to catch fire. Cherry was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck suffered injuries and was taken to Northport Medical Center for treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.
