Andalusia, AL (June 29, 2025) – Two people lost their lives and one person was hurt in a tragic head-on crash on Friday, June 27.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the collision occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Covington Co 70 near Mary Williamson Rd, about five miles northeast of Andalusia.
Officials say 37-year-old Travis B. Duke of Andalusia was driving a 2014 Dodge Charger. Christy D. Shaw, 20, of Headland, was behind the wheel of a 2025 Kia K4. For reasons still under investigation, the two vehicles crashed head-on.
The Charger flipped over, while the Kia struck a ditch during the impact. Neither Duke nor Shaw was wearing a seat belt, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.
An 18-year-old passenger in the Kia sustained injuries. Emergency crews transported the injured teen to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of the injuries has not been released.
