Fatal Truck Accidents in Montgomery

Collisions involving large commercial trucks, like 18-wheelers, are among the most devastating types of accidents seen on Alabama roads. The sheer size and weight of these vehicles mean that when they collide with smaller passenger vehicles, the results are often catastrophic.

In the case of the recent accident on Selma Hwy, the loss of Clifton Moore Jr. serves as a tragic reminder of how dangerous these crashes can be. Data from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) shows that thousands of people are killed every year in crashes involving large trucks, and many more suffer life-altering injuries.

Alabama ranks high for fatal truck crashes compared to other states. In many cases, the victims are not the truck drivers, but the occupants of the smaller vehicles involved. Montgomery, as a regional hub, sees frequent truck traffic on major roads such as I-65, I-85, and Selma Hwy. This traffic increases the risk of collisions, especially during peak hours or in areas where traffic merges or narrows.

When someone dies in a crash involving a commercial truck, families often face unexpected financial and emotional hardships. Funeral expenses, medical bills, and the loss of income can be overwhelming. In these situations, a personal injury attorney can help by launching an independent investigation, identifying all liable parties, and pursuing rightful compensation.

Depending on the facts of the case, surviving family members may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim, which can help them recover damages for both economic losses and emotional suffering. This can include payment for lost future earnings, loss of companionship, and mental anguish. While no amount of money can bring back a loved one, financial support can help ease the burden and bring some level of closure.

Legal action can prompt trucking companies to improve their safety practices, potentially preventing future tragedies. Holding negligent drivers or employers accountable helps make the roads safer for everyone.
