Car Accidents in Alabama

Mobile, AL – Crash on Halls Mill Rd Leaves at Least One Injured Vehicle crashes are all too common on Alabama’s roadways. In 2022, the Alabama Department of Transportation reported over 31,000 injuries from crashes across the state. From wet weather to distracted drivers, multiple factors can lead to a serious collision. Many of these accidents occur at intersections where visibility, speed, and timing can all play dangerous roles.

Understanding why crashes happen helps shed light on how victims are often left with injuries and major expenses. Here are some lesser-known causes of car accidents in Alabama:

  • Poor Road Signage or Visibility: Some intersections or stretches of road lack proper signs or lighting. When signage is unclear or poorly placed, drivers may make wrong turns, miss stop signs, or speed into unsafe areas. Reduced visibility, especially during early mornings or late evenings, can make an already confusing roadway even more dangerous.
  • Unfamiliar Roadways: Drivers unfamiliar with certain roads may miss key turns or slow down unexpectedly, creating rear-end collision risks. In places where streets twist or lack shoulder space, unfamiliarity can increase the odds of misjudging distances or lane shifts.
  • Vehicle Defects: Not every crash is due to driver error. Faulty brakes, blown tires, or malfunctioning steering systems have led to numerous crashes across Alabama. Victims in these cases often require mechanical investigations to uncover hidden causes.
  • Driver Fatigue: Drowsy driving remains a serious risk, especially for those working long hours or traveling late at night. Reaction times decrease significantly, making it harder to avoid sudden changes in traffic flow or road hazards.
