Bibb Co, AL (May 9, 2025) – A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred late Friday, May 9, in Bibb County, resulting in the death of a Moundville man and injuries to three others, including two juveniles. The incident occurred just before 11:00 p.m. on Highway 5 near the 84-mile marker, approximately two miles south of Brent.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), 44-year-old Willie T. Wills was attempting to flee from a Brent Police Department officer when the crash occurred. Wills, driving a 2024 Dodge Hornet, reportedly struck an SUV during the pursuit. Emergency crews from ALEA, local fire departments, and EMS responded to the scene. Firefighters worked to extricate victims from the vehicles while troopers managed traffic flow in the area.
Wills, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics assessed and transported the SUV’s driver to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for medical treatment. Two juvenile passengers from the SUV were also injured and taken to nearby hospitals for care. The severity of their injuries has not yet been released.
The crash remains under investigation by ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division. Authorities confirmed that the pursuit began shortly before the crash and emphasized the importance of safe driving practices to prevent such tragedies.
