Chilton County, AL (April 16, 2024) – A fatal crash occurred on Tuesday evening in Chilton County, claiming the life of a Prattville woman and leaving a teenager injured. The incident, reported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), took place at approximately 8:35 p.m. on U.S. 82.
According to ALEA, 20-year-old Lindsey R. Lugen, driving a vehicle, rear-ended a car driven by 40-year-old Shelby Jones. Following the initial impact, Lugen’s vehicle collided head-on with another car driven by 63-year-old Anna Walker.
Lugen was pronounced dead at the scene. Walker was injured and transported by helicopter to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital for treatment. A 17-year-old passenger in Walker’s car was also injured and transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
First responders from local emergency services were quick to arrive, with fire department personnel assisting in removing the vehicles involved. Ambulances transported the injured parties to medical facilities, and law enforcement carefully managed the accident area to control traffic flow and ensure safety. ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division troopers are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
