Jefferson Co., AL (March 19, 2025) – A multi-car crash occurred on Tuesday morning on Hwy 79 near Jeff State Pkwy, resulting in injuries to five individuals. The accident, reported by the Center Point Fire District, happened at approximately 7:30 a.m., causing the highway to be closed in all directions.

According to the Center Point Fire District, the collision involved multiple vehicles, with three individuals requiring extrication from their cars. Firefighters from Center Point, with mutual aid assistance from Birmingham Fire, worked to free the trapped victims, while the RAMS air medical helicopter assisted in the response.

Three of the injured were transported by the Center Point Fire District to nearby medical facilities, while one critically injured patient was airlifted to the UAB Trauma Center by the RAMS air medical helicopter. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office took over the scene once the fire and rescue operations were completed.

The highway remained closed for several hours while authorities cleared the wreckage and conducted an investigation. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes as traffic was redirected around the crash site.
