Dec 23, 2024 | Catastrophic Personal Injury, Local Accidents

Ohatchee, AL (December 23, 2024) – A tragic multi-car crash occurred on Sunday evening in Calhoun County, resulting in the death of a Cullman man and leaving three others injured. The incident, reported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), took place at approximately 8:25 p.m. on Alabama 77 near the 91-mile marker, approximately one mile south of Ohatchee.

According to ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division, Caleb B. Falls, 28, was fatally injured when the 2024 Nissan Sentra he was driving was struck by a 2019 Ford Mustang driven by Robert A. Lavigne, 20, of Fort Campbell, Tennessee. After the initial impact, Falls’ vehicle collided head-on with a 2015 Toyota Prius driven by Tracey P. Cleckler, 58, of Fort Payne.

Falls was pronounced dead at the scene. Lavigne and a 16-year-old passenger in the Ford Mustang sustained injuries and were transported to local medical facilities for treatment. Cleckler suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

First responders, including ambulances and fire rescue teams, arrived at the scene and worked quickly to extract the injured from the vehicles and manage traffic. The crash site was controlled, and the highway was temporarily closed while the investigation took place and the wreckage was cleared.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate the cause of the incident.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Caleb B. Falls, as well as to the others affected by this devastating accident.
