Jemison, AL (December 10, 2024) – A serious injury car crash occurred on December 10 in Jemison, involving a Calera police officer. The incident, reported by the Jemison Police Department, took place around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 191 and County Road 42 West.

According to the Jemison Police Department, the crash occurred when a pickup truck collided with a sedan at the intersection. The collision caused significant damage to both vehicles, and emergency responders from the Jemison Fire Department were called to the scene for vehicle extraction. Firefighters worked to remove both drivers from the wreckage safely.

The Calera police officer involved in the crash was transported to UAB Hospital by ambulance in critical condition. The officer’s identity has not been released, and the severity of their injuries is still being assessed. The driver of the sedan was also taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries, but their condition is not yet known.

The Alabama State Troopers and local authorities responded to the scene, closing the road temporarily to allow emergency crews to work. Traffic was diverted, and the road remained shut down for several hours while the investigation and cleanup took place.
