Fayette Co, AL (December 27, 2024) – A fatal multi-car crash occurred on Sunday evening claiming the life of a Fayette woman, Phyllis B. Thompson. The collision took place at approximately 5:15 p.m. on AL 96, about six miles west of Fayette.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Thompson was critically injured when her car struck a car driven by Bryan K. Wilson II of Bankston. After the initial impact, Thompson’s car collided with an unoccupied car parked along the roadway.

Emergency responders, including paramedics and firefighters, promptly arrived at the scene. Thompson was transported by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital, where she received treatment for her injuries. Wilson was taken to Fayette Medical Center for medical attention. Despite efforts to save her life, Thompson succumbed to her injuries on Thursday.

Authorities directed traffic and ensured the area was cleared of debris, with firefighters assisting in extricating Thompson’s vehicle. ALEA troopers confirmed that the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
