Baldwin County, AL (August 30, 2025) – A devastating crash killed two people and left several others injured on Saturday afternoon, August 30.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reported that the collision happened around 1:15 p.m. on Alabama Highway 59 near the 54-mile marker, about two miles south of Stockton.
Investigators said a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze collided head-on with a 2021 Lexus RX 350 driven by a 15-year-old juvenile. The impact was severe. Moments after the collision, the Cruze caught fire and was fully engulfed in flames.
The driver and passenger inside the Cruze tragically died at the scene. ALEA identified the victims as an 18-year-old juvenile and 44-year-old Elisha Jones Jr. of Stockton. Their remains were transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for further examination.
The 15-year-old driver of the Lexus was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Chantelle L. McPherson, 51, of Spanish Fort, who was a passenger in the Lexus, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to USA Health University Hospital in Mobile.
The ALEA Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate this tragic incident.
