Shelby Co, AL (April 7, 2025) – A serious two-car injury crash occurred on Monday night, April 7, shutting down a portion of Interstate 65 in Shelby County and sending at least one person to the hospital. The incident happened just after 8:30 p.m. near the 227-mile marker, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

Authorities reported that both northbound lanes of I-65 were closed as of 9:30 p.m., and the shutdown is expected to continue for an undetermined amount of time while first responders and investigators work at the scene.

Emergency personnel, including ALEA troopers, Shelby County EMS, and local fire departments, responded promptly. Firefighters assisted in removing the damaged vehicles from the roadway and helped extricate those involved. Paramedics treated the injured on site before transporting at least one person by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The current condition of the victim has not been released.

Traffic was diverted from the area to reduce congestion and ensure the safety of other motorists. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by ALEA.
