Scottsboro, AL (February 2, 2025) – A collision involving a train and a Jeep Grand Cherokee left four people injured in Scottsboro on Friday night.
The crash happened at approximately 8:51 p.m. on January 31 at the railroad crossing on North Kyle Street. Scottsboro Police reported that a westbound Norfolk Southern train struck a northbound Jeep Grand Cherokee as it crossed the tracks. The impact caused the Jeep to overturn, ejecting one of the occupants.
The driver of the Jeep was identified as 24-year-old Cameron Jones, of Section, AL. Three passengers, also from Section, were children between the ages of 8 and 12. All four occupants sustained injuries and were transported to Huntsville Hospital for medical treatment. Their current conditions have not been released. No injuries were reported among the train crew. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.
