Huntsville, AL (February 10, 2025) – A fatal car crash occurred on Monday morning in Huntsville, leaving one person dead and another injured. According to Huntsville Police, the accident took place at approximately 7:39 a.m. on Drake Avenue, between Leeman Ferry Road. and Ivy Avenue.
The collision involved a box truck and an SUV. Huntsville Emergency Medical Services (HEMSI) confirmed that the driver of the SUV was transported to Huntsville Hospital and is currently in stable condition. However, the driver of the box truck was pronounced dead at the scene by Madison County Coroner Tyler Berryhill.
Authorities reported that the box truck driver lost control while driving east on Drake Ave, causing the vehicle to overturn and slide into the westbound lanes. The SUV driver attempted to avoid the oncoming truck but was unable to do so. A member of Huntsville Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the crash.
Firefighters were involved in the extraction of the vehicles, and police and emergency personnel worked to control traffic while clearing the scene. The road was temporarily closed, and motorists were advised to seek alternate routes. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
