Calhoun Co, AL (February 4, 2025) – A fatal pedestrian crash occurred on Monday, February 3, in Calhoun County, claiming the life of a 61-year-old man. The incident, reported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), happened at approximately 6:00 p.m. on AL 202 near the 3-mile marker, about three miles west of Anniston.
According to the ALEA, Herbert M. Blair, of Oxford, was walking in the roadway when he was hit by a 2016 Nissan Maxima. Following the initial collision, Blair was hit again by a 2017 Honda HR-V. Emergency responders, including ambulances, were dispatched to the scene. However, Blair was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Local authorities worked to manage the aftermath of the crash, with traffic being diverted as they conducted their investigation. Firefighters participated in the extrication of the vehicles from the scene. The highway was cleared after several hours of intensive response efforts.
Troopers from the ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are currently investigating the accident, and no further details have been released at this time.
