Shelby Co, AL (January 11, 2025) – An injury two-car crash occurred on January 11 in Shelby County, blocking all northbound lanes of Interstate 65 near the 243-mile marker. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reported the incident at approximately 8:23 p.m.
According to ALEA, the collision involved a car and a commercial truck. Emergency responders, including Shelby County Fire and Rescue and local paramedics, quickly arrived to assist. One individual was extricated from their vehicle by firefighters using specialized tools and transported to Shelby Baptist Medical Center with serious injuries.
Traffic in the area was heavily impacted as ALEA troopers directed vehicles off the interstate to manage congestion. Crews worked several hours to clear debris and tow the cars involved, allowing northbound lanes to reopen later in the evening.
