Pike County, AL (January 22, 2025) – A fatal two-car crash occurred on Sunday afternoon on U.S. 231 near the 177-mile marker, about one mile north of Brundidge. The collision claimed the life of one individual and left three others injured.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the accident happened shortly before 2:00 p.m. when a 2009 Hyundai Genesis, driven by Bill B. Williams, 54, of Brundidge, rear-ended a 1997 Toyota 4Runner. Williams was ejected from his car and tragically pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

The driver of the Toyota 4Runner, a 48-year-old Troy resident, and two passengers sustained injuries in the crash. Among the injured were a 50-year-old resident of Troy and a 51-year-old resident of Ariton. ALEA confirmed that none of the occupants in the SUV were wearing seatbelts. The Ariton resident, who was ejected from the vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital for treatment. The remaining injured parties were transported via ambulance to Troy Regional Medical Center.

Emergency crews, including local firefighters, were deployed to manage traffic, extract victims, and clear the wreckage. Authorities temporarily closed US 231 to investigate the scene and ensure the safety of those involved.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Bill B. Williams during this difficult time. We also wish for the full recovery of those injured in this tragic accident.
