Lawrence Co, AL (January 3, 2025) – A fatal car crash occurred early Friday morning in Lawrence County, claiming the lives of two individuals. The incident, reported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), took place at approximately 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Alabama State Route 157 (SR 157) and Alabama State Route 36 (SR 36), about six miles south of Moulton.
According to Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the ALEA, the collision involved a 2017 Toyota Corolla, driven by 55-year-old Tammy W. Sawyer of Trinity, and a 2010 Dodge Dakota. The initial impact caused the Corolla to veer off the roadway and strike a utility pole. Despite efforts from first responders, both Sawyer and her passenger, 71-year-old Jimmie R. Bailey of Bremen, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency medical teams arrived promptly and assessed the scene, confirming the tragic fatalities. Firefighters and rescue teams were also on-site to extract the victims’ vehicle from the wreckage.
