Jefferson County, AL (January 30, 2025) – An injury car crash occurred on US Highway 78 following a high-speed chase involving Jefferson County deputies on Wednesday morning near Trilby St and Cherry Ave in the Pratt City area. The incident resulted in injuries to at least two individuals, including the suspect.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the chase began earlier in the morning during a routine traffic stop when deputies attempted to apprehend a woman on a misdemeanor warrant. However, the driver of the car, a man, fled the scene, prompting a pursuit by the deputies.
The pursuit ended shortly before 9:00 a.m. when the suspect collided with two other cars on the highway. Both the suspect and the driver of one of the cars he hit were transported to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency medical teams responded quickly to the scene, providing necessary treatment before transporting the injured individuals.
The accident caused a temporary shutdown of multiple lanes on US Highway 78. Authorities, including Jefferson County deputies and local firefighters, worked together to manage the scene, directing traffic and assisting in the extraction of the vehicles involved. The scene was cleared, and traffic resumed after a few hours.
