Elmore County, AL (January 12, 2025) – A fatal car crash occurred on January 10, claiming the life of a young man and leaving another individual injured in Elmore County. The incident took place at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Taylor Road, about four miles southeast of Tallassee, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

Authorities reported that Gavin Oryen Prescott Young, 23, of Tallassee, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu when it collided with a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. Senior Trooper Kendra McKinney confirmed that Young was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. Emergency medical services transported the driver of the Silverado to Baptist South in Montgomery, where he is being treated for undisclosed injuries.

First responders, including firefighters, worked diligently to extract the occupants from the vehicles while law enforcement managed traffic around the crash site to ensure safety. Paramedics provided immediate medical assistance to the injured before transferring them to the hospital. The circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation, and it is unclear whether weather or road conditions played a role.
