Enterprise, AL – One Killed in Fatal Bicycle Crash on U.S. 84

Enterprise, AL (December 21, 2024) – A fatal bicycle crash occurred on Saturday evening near Enterprise, tragically claiming the life of one individual. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the incident took place around 5:30 p.m. on U.S. 84 near the 185-mile marker, about one mile west of Enterprise. 

The victim, identified as Carlos Ernesto Gonzales Villega, 46, was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a 2005 Dodge Dakota driven by a 60-year-old Daleville resident. Emergency responders, including paramedics and firefighters, were dispatched to the scene. Despite their rapid response, Gonzales Villega succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the site.  

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Authorities managed traffic while investigating and clearing the area. ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
