Marion County, AL (November 19, 2024) – A fatal bicycle crash occurred on Monday evening in Marion County, claiming the life of a 71-year-old man who was pushing his bicycle. The incident, reported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), took place at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Marion County 85, near Kilpatrick Dairy Rd.

According to ALEA, the man, identified as Haleyville resident Eddie Taylor, was hit by a car while pushing his bicycle along the road. The impact caused Taylor to be thrown into a guardrail. Unfortunately, Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car involved in the crash fled the area immediately after the collision, and authorities are actively investigating the incident. ALEA troopers have not yet identified the car or the driver responsible for the crash.

Emergency responders, including ambulances, arrived at the scene and confirmed Taylor’s death. Firefighters assisted in securing the scene, and ALEA worked to manage traffic in the area. Investigators are continuing their search for the responsible driver and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
