Blount Co, AL (November 22, 2024) – A fatal pedestrian crash occurred on the evening of Wednesday on Alabama 5, about three miles north of Dora. The accident claimed the life of 65-year-old Monroe S. Wessler Jr. who was hit by a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by 41-year-old Justin M. Todd of Tuscaloosa. The crash happened at approximately 6:20 p.m.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Wessler was walking in the roadway when he was hit by the Prius. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and declared Wessler dead at the scene. The crash prompted a response from local authorities, who managed traffic and ensured the safety of all involved.
