Florence, AL – Two Killed in Collision at Sweetwater Ave & Florence Blvd

Florence, AL (May 8, 2024) – Two people were killed after a car accident in the Florence area on Tuesday, May 7. The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of Sweetwater Avenue and Florence Boulevard that afternoon around 4 p.m. Two vehicles reportedly collided at the scene. 

Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to render aid to the involved parties. Two people suffered fatal injuries in the crash and were later pronounced dead. One of the deceased parties was later identified as Deputy David Terry who served as the Director of Corrections. The identity of the other deceased driver has not been determined. The area was temporarily closed as local authorities worked to clear the scene. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
