Mobile, AL – Woman Killed in Collision with Semi-Trailer on I-65

Mobile, AL (February 15, 2024) – Early on Wednesday morning, February 14, a woman was killed following a collision involving a semi-trailer in the Mobile area. The fatal accident took place on Interstate 65 between Dauphin Street and Airport Boulevard early that morning at around 7:20 a.m. A semi-trailer truck was reportedly pulling a box trailer on the interstate as it slowed down due to traffic on the road. 

It was then that the trailer collided with a car driven by 33-year-old Elizabeth Carvolho De Souza. Emergency responders were sent to provide aid to the involved parties. The driver was transported to a local hospital in critical condition where she was later pronounced dead. 

The area was temporarily closed as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. The area was later reopened some hours later. At this time, no updates on the deadly accident are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the deadly crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials, and more updates will be provided as it continues.
