Summerdale, AL (November 23, 2025) – A tragic crash claimed the life of a Summerdale man on Friday, November 21, in Baldwin County. The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Sanborn Avenue and Baldwin County 73, within the Summerdale city limits.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 67-year-old Thomas B. Harber was driving a 2018 Jeep Wrangler when a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 56-year-old Nemecio Cruz, slammed into his vehicle. The impact was powerful, causing Harber’s Jeep to overturn. He was ejected from the vehicle and died instantly from his injuries.

Emergency responders arrived within minutes and rushed Cruz to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center for treatment. After receiving care, Cruz was released and taken into custody. Authorities charged him with vehicular manslaughter, and he remains held at the Baldwin County Jail without bond.

Investigators with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are reviewing evidence and witness statements to determine what led to the collision. Additional information will be released as the investigation continues.
