Marengo Co, AL (January 10, 2025) – A fatal semi-truck crash occurred on Thursday, January 9, in Marengo County, claiming the life of a 72-year-old Demopolis man, identified as David R. Freeman.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reported that the accident took place at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Alabama Highway 28, about four miles west of Linden. Freeman was driving a 2016 GMC Sierra pickup truck when it collided with a 2019 Mack tractor-trailer driven by a Thomasville resident.

Emergency personnel, including paramedics and firefighters, arrived promptly at the scene. Despite their efforts, Freeman was tragically pronounced deceased on-site. The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Firefighters worked to safely extract the vehicles, while law enforcement managed traffic flow to prevent further disruptions.

The ALEA continues to investigate the crash to determine its exact cause.
