Mobile Co, AL – Fatal Pedestrian Accident on US 45 near MM 17

Mobile Co, AL (August 5, 2025) – A deadly pedestrian crash early Tuesday morning, August 5, claimed the life of a McIntosh man in Mobile County.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. on U.S. 45, near mile marker 17, roughly 10 miles north of Prichard. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban struck 39-year-old Otis Reed Jr.

The driver, 65-year-old Robert W. Peek of Saraland, was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. Reed suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No further injuries were reported.

Officials have not yet said what led to the incident. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains active.
