Leesburg, AL – Several Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on AL-68

Leesburg, AL (February 21, 2024) – On Monday, February 19, multiple people were hurt after a two-car collision in the Leesburg area. The accident took place on AL-68 up the mountain near the Leesburg exit. A van and a truck reportedly collided at the scene. 

Local reports indicated that eight people were injured in the accident. Two of the victims rushed to a nearby FEMA building where a medical helicopter was waiting to transport them to a hospital. These critical victims were later identified as the drivers of the vehicles involved. They were transported by helicopter to the trauma unit at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. 

The remaining victims were transported to Atrium Health Floyd in Rome by ambulance. Multiple emergency crews responded to the scene. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
