Decatur, AL (June 15, 2025) – A deadly crash took place on Friday, June 13, at the intersection of W Rock Springs Rd and S Westgate Dr. The two-vehicle collision happened around 3 p.m. and claimed the life of a 68-year-old Decatur man.
According to police, the man was sitting in his vehicle in the eastbound lane of W Rock Springs Rd but facing west. For reasons still under investigation, he suddenly turned right. At that moment, a truck struck the passenger side of his vehicle.
The man was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries. His name has not yet been released. Two other people were hurt in the crash. An 18-year-old Decatur man and a juvenile boy suffered minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital. Authorities say they are expected to recover.
Investigators are working to determine what caused the man to make the unexpected turn. They are reviewing crash scene evidence and speaking with witnesses to learn more about how the wreck unfolded.
