Limestone Co, AL (May 6, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday evening, May 6, resulted in multiple injuries and prompted the temporary closure of a stretch of Interstate 65 southbound in Limestone County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). The incident occurred at approximately 6:52 p.m. near the Tennessee River Bridge and involved several vehicles, including an 18-wheeler that reportedly fled the scene.
Authorities stated that the southbound lanes of I-65 between mile markers 334 and 361 were shut down by ALEA troopers around 7:44 p.m. as emergency crews responded to the crash. Firefighters worked to extract victims from damaged vehicles, while paramedics rendered aid at the scene and transported the injured to nearby hospitals. The lanes were reopened to traffic by 9:51 p.m.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, the 18-wheeler involved in multiple collisions was later found smoldering at the Priceville exit. It remains under investigation whether the driver of the truck will face charges.
