Houston Co, AL (May 12, 2025) – A devastating crash occurred shortly after noon on Saturday, May 10, in Houston County, resulting in the deaths of three members of a Florida family. The fatal incident took place around 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of CR 95 and US 84 in the town of Gordon, near the Alabama-Georgia state line.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd, a Florida couple and their adult daughter were traveling in an SUV when they attempted to cross two lanes of traffic on US 84. After entering the median, their vehicle proceeded across the eastbound lanes, where it was struck on the passenger side by an eastbound 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer.
The victims have been identified as Alan David Waller, 74, and Marian Diane Myrick Waller, 71, both of Floral City, FL, and their daughter, Carrie Christine Stone, 49, of Inverness, FL. Tragically, all three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, identified as 48-year-old Tracy Deshon Williams of Tyler, TX, sustained minor injuries and was evaluated by emergency medical personnel at the scene. Local fire crews responded promptly to assist with vehicle extrication and scene control. Authorities closed off portions of the highway for several hours while Alabama State Troopers conducted their investigation. The crash remains under review.
