Tuscaloosa, AL (March 3, 2025) – A fatal truck crash occurred on Saturday afternoon, March 1, in Tuscaloosa, resulting in the death of a Duncanville woman. The tragic incident, reported by the Tuscaloosa Police Department (TPD), happened at approximately 4:10 p.m. in the 6900 block of University Boulevard E near the intersection with Hurricane Road.
According to the TPD, a Honda Accord with three occupants was stopped at the intersection of University Blvd E and Hurricane Road when it was rear-ended by a truck driven by Sheree Ann Kelly, a 69-year-old woman from Duncanville. Police believe the truck was unable to stop in time due to a mechanical issue.
The driver behind Kelly’s truck, a friend of Kelly’s, had arrived to assist her with a jump-start for her car. However, they were also unable to stop and collided with the rear of Kelly’s truck. The impact left Kelly trapped between the two cars, causing critical injuries. Despite paramedics’ life-saving efforts, Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and one of the passengers in the Honda Accord were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders, including fire department personnel, assisted in the extraction of the vehicles and managed traffic in the area, ensuring the safety of the public and facilitating the swift transportation of the injured.
The TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the fatal crash. They will review whether any criminal charges will be filed following Kelly’s tragic death.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Sheree Ann Kelly during this grieving time.
