Montgomery, AL (March 1, 2025) – Acclaimed R&B singer Angie Stone tragically lost her life in a crash early on March 1 while traveling from Mobile to Atlanta. The accident occurred on Interstate 65, approximately five miles south of Montgomery.

Authorities say the van carrying Stone and members of her band collided with a semi-truck after flipping over on the roadway. Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Lt. Jeremy Burkett confirmed that Stone, who was a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eight other individuals inside the Mercedes Benz Sprinter van sustained injuries in the crash. Emergency crews transported them to local hospitals for treatment. Their current conditions have not been released. The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances leading up to the collision.

Our deepest condolences go out to Angie Stone’s loved ones and everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss. We also hope for the full recovery of the injured passengers.

Van Accidents in Alabama

Montgomery, AL – R&B Singer Angie Stone Killed in Crash on I-65 Alabama sees thousands of accidents involving passenger vans and commercial vehicles each year. Due to their size and the number of occupants, these crashes often result in severe injuries and fatalities. Highways such as I-65 are particularly prone to high-speed collisions, increasing the risk of major wrecks.

Some common factors contributing to serious accidents include:

  • Fatigue on Long Trips: Many long-distance drivers, especially those traveling overnight, may experience fatigue, leading to slower reaction times or drowsiness behind the wheel.
  • Rollover Risks for Large Vans: Passenger vans, particularly when fully loaded, have a higher center of gravity, making them more prone to rollovers during sudden maneuvers or high-speed travel.
  • Truck and Van Collisions: When large trucks and passenger vans collide, the impact is often devastating due to the weight and force involved. These crashes can be caused by various factors, including blind spots, sudden lane changes, or braking issues.
  • Roadway Hazards: Uneven pavement, construction zones, and wet conditions can contribute to loss of control, particularly on high-speed interstates like I-65.
