Cherokee Co, AL (December 16, 2024) – A fatal car crash occurred on Saturday evening at approximately 7:45 p.m. in Cherokee County. The two-car accident took place at the intersection of US HWY 411 and County RD 45 near Centre and Cave Spring, resulting in one death and three injuries.
According to the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office, one of the cars involved in the crash overturned, trapping the occupant inside. Emergency responders from McCord’s Crossroads Fire Department and Cherokee County Rescue Squad were on the scene to assist, including performing the extrication of the trapped individual. The injured were treated on-site by EMS personnel, and one of the victims was transported to a nearby medical facility for further treatment. Unfortunately, the coroner pronounced one person dead at the scene.
The Alabama State Troopers, who are handling the investigation, managed the situation, including controlling traffic in the area and notifying the next of kin. The crash led to a temporary closure of US HWY 411 as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and treat the victims.
