Deadly Motorcycle Accidents in Alabama

Smiths Station, AL - Motorcyclist Dies in Crash on Lee Road 248

In terms of motorcycle fatalities, Alabama ranks tenth in the United States. The state has recorded 93 motorcycle crash deaths in a recent year. Because motorcycles are less visible and less stable while braking quickly, related accidents typically result in fatalities. Additionally, compared to those in passenger vehicles, motorcycle riders have far less accident protection. Put another way, motorcycles are far more susceptible to severe injuries in an accident. The most common reason for motorcycle accidents in Alabama is alcohol consumption. Alcohol played a role in over 88 percent of motorcycle-related deaths in Alabama last year, accounting for 77 out of 93 fatalities.
