Nauvoo, AL (May 3, 2024) – On Thursday, May 2, a Jasper man was killed after being fatally struck by a motor vehicle outside of Nauvoo. The deadly crash took place on AL-5 early that morning. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene after being notified of a serious pedestrian-vehicle accident.
It was reported that the victim was on the highway when he was struck by an oncoming pickup truck. The pedestrian, later identified as 27-year-old Marcus C. Boteler of Jasper, suffered critical injuries in the impact. He was airlifted to a hospital in Birmingham for treatment. Boteler was later pronounced dead by attending medical personnel.
