Nauvoo, AL – Jasper Man Dies in Pedestrian Crash on AL-5

Nauvoo, AL (May 3, 2024) – On Thursday, May 2, a Jasper man was killed after being fatally struck by a motor vehicle outside of Nauvoo. The deadly crash took place on AL-5 early that morning. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene after being notified of a serious pedestrian-vehicle accident. 

It was reported that the victim was on the highway when he was struck by an oncoming pickup truck. The pedestrian, later identified as 27-year-old Marcus C. Boteler of Jasper, suffered critical injuries in the impact. He was airlifted to a hospital in Birmingham for treatment. Boteler was later pronounced dead by attending medical personnel. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
