Alpine, AL (March 17, 2024) – On Thursday, March 14, a Sylacauga man died as a result of a pedestrian accident in the Alpine area. The fatal crash was reported in Talladega County on AL-21 near Desoto Caverns Parkway late that night at around 10:40 p.m. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene after being notified of a pedestrian-vehicle crash.
Local reports revealed that 31-year-old James W. Meeks of Sylacauga was walking along the highway when he was hit by an oncoming motor vehicle. The driver involved was later identified as 45-year-old Trederick L. Cook also of Sylacauga. Meeks suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
