Opelika, AL (June 22, 2024) – On Friday, June 21, one person was killed and another was injured after a collision in the Opelika area. The fatal accident was reported on Interstate 85 NB near Exit 58 that afternoon at around 2:30 p.m. Two vehicles reportedly collided at the scene.
Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. One of the drivers was found unresponsive at the scene. The unconscious driver, identified as 57-year-old Narendrakumar Patel of Auburn, was transported to East Alabama Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. The other driver was also hospitalized for the treatment of sustained injuries. No additional information on the fatal accident is currently available.
